Guess what's easier than taking drawings home and scanning them? Taking crappy pictures with my phone! Also, my scanner is broken.

Tonight a few of us invented new Pokemons and trainers (Neil, we missed you).

Dude, Where's My Drink & Draw?

Hey there, I'm Chad - the guy who's smaller, rag-tag Drink & Draw group 'melded' with Calgary Drink & Draw? Yeah, that's right, that Chad.
For those of you in the group I haven't met yet - I'm the Non-Bearded Chad.

Seems I've missed practically every D&D in February! Due to an 'old man' ailment: Lower back and Hip problems!
What is no doubt Sciatica (sounds like a Sci Fi TV show) so even hobbling to even one of this month's D&Ds has been out of the question.

But I have actually been drawing (reserving the drinking for my eventual return)...

From my iPhone (work in progress):

Using Sketchbook Pro Mobile & Logiix Stylus.

Now that I've been included in those able to post here, you may see a little bit more from Calgary Drink & Draw's evenings at Dickens Pub.

Looking forward to some Pass-Around drawing, chicken wings, conversation with some really good artists and let's not forget the drink part of Calgary Drink & Draw!

Until then,
Non-Bearded, on the mend at home,
Chad Montgomery

I'm about six months behind on scanning and posting these, but here's a comic from last night. We were joined by some cool guys from the mysterious Thursday drink & draw! The comic turned out as horrifically as usual, though. Pretty disgusting.

"I love my job."

Another week has gone by and a Wednesday night Drink & Draw. This week was another small turn out and even Dickens was pretty quiet---something I attribute to the new spring weather bringing out the need for people to drink on a patio, instead of a nice, cozy bar. We were visited by a friend of Neil's from the States who, with the help of the ever friendly Dickens staff (one of whom was even able to contribute to this week's comic), we were able to get drunk for the first time. Also, there was a gargantuan dong and the lack of robots was noted by those present.

Mmmm Cookies.

A little bit of a late post from this week. I haven't been to Drink and Draw for a few weeks after we had a great turn out for Heath McCoy who interviewed us for this article (I'm also told that the article was printed in an edition of the Calgary Herald, but I missed that one).

I hear attendance has been a bit low, but that's not entirely a horrible thing. To me that means more conversations with like-minded people then doing any actual drawing, and that's not time wasted. We did end up with six by the end of the night, and were able to get a comic jam done:

We've had a furniture-rearranging great turnout the last couple of weeks! Last night we were joined by Heath M and Travis R (names shortened to protect from Google searches!) from the local paper. They contributed the last panels on this passaround comic:

Good job guys! Working in a "bag of dicks," classy move!

And these two are from last week:

Deus Ex Odonata

Well, I've been a bit lazy in getting new comics up. It has been a few weeks of small turn outs and mainly just chilling out at Dickens. But, we did get a comic done last week:

Scooby's a pitcher.

For those of you who couldn't make it out to this week's Drink & Draw due to weather, sickness, or just from some lame excuse, you missed the best time. ...Ever. Seriously. Would have remembered it for the rest of your life. Could have told the stories to your children and grand children yet to come. You totally should've been there. ...Yeah. Totally.

I don't even know how we found the time to draw up any pass around comics. What with all those goings on a going on:

Nick, Fiona, Ben, Ian, Jeff & Tim

Fiona, Ben, Jeff, Natasha, Nick & Drew

As well as these two bonus comics that Fiona and Ben did a few weeks back at another Drink & Draw people pussed out on---of course, I was there in spirit:

A Room With Some Moose... Or Is It Meese?

This past week was a little off for me, but one of the highlights was Drink & Draw. Pretty good turn out this time, and even some new folks showed up. And, you know what, I don't think we actually scared them off with any of the sewage that normally passes for conversation at these get togethers. Mostly, I think we should attribute our good impression to a rare tame gem of a pass-around comic:

Also, we've decided to give Dickens another stab for next weeks Drink & Draw. So, that's Wednesday, February 16th right here:

Shitting Dicks

This is from a couple of weeks ago. I was hesitant to post it, simply because it's one of the worst things I've ever seen. However, I take my Blog Administrator duties semi-seriously, so here it is.

Now some walruses to cleanse the palate.

Uncle Tyrese III

This is from two weeks ago. Turns out I am the worst at posting.

Neil and I caught a Piranha 3D matinee and went straight to d&d, so we got there at like 5:30. We thought, "Let's make a really great passaround comic before anyone else gets here!" We were too slow and some other people did join in, but definitely for the best.

Muppets and Robots.

It was just Jeff and I this Drink & Draw sipping a couple of beers, drawing muppets and robots. Even decided to do up a passaround comic between the two of us that turned out to be pretty... well, I want to say 'coherent'.

Two weeks gone by.

Alright, so last week no one came to Drink & Draw. I was only there for a bit before I decided to give people and call and let them know that it wasn't on because the weather was super rainy. I don't have everyone's number, so I may have missed someone along the line, so sorry if you came down in the rain to find no one there... like I did.

This week was just a few of us, and I showed up after 8pm myself because of a new job I started on Wednesday. Still more talk about Cold Unfeeling Robot News, but that was added to with eight inch, Angry Hawaiian I had that evening.

Our comic actually has nothing to do with our conversation, and I think it's hilarious how the character changes with each panel (and I drew him twice!):

Drew, Jeff, Ian, Chris & Drew

Also, I want to remind peoples that if they want to post their drunken etchings, most of the admins are more then happy to do so. Scan it in and e-mail me, for instance, and I'll slap it up on the blog. Or even just slide your scribblings under the table to me at Drink & Draw, and get me to do all the work.

I believe the count is #62

At least that's the number I think we're at for our comics. We're going to have to step up our game here if we want to stay ahead of our rivals in Victoria.

Nick, Aly, Drew, Chris, Jeff & Chad
We had some discussion that news would be more trustworthy if it were read to us by a cold, unfeeling robot to cut down on the sensationalizing and to allow viewers to make their own opinions. So, we decided to make a surprisingly coherent and tame pass-around comic about that.

Kind of an average turn out this past week. Mostly regulars, although we did have a new person come by for a bit and draw with us. Maybe that's something we haven't advertised too well, and probably because most of the people who frequent Drink & Draw are already friends, but we only require three small things of people who wish to join us at The Bear & Kilt on Wednesdays:

  1. Your physical presence.
  2. Drinking.
  3. Drawing.

...and we're pretty lenient on numbers 2 & 3.

Mercy for the Truant Scanner!

Sorry these are way late, about a week and a half old. But there are some real doozies here, including a very special cameo by everyone's favorite ripped Sax player from the beginning of Lost Boys. Now there's a spin-off movie we'd all like to see...

- Nick, Ian, Neil, Chris, Drew

-Drew, Chris, Chad, Ian, Aly, Nick, Neil

A few of us also tried our hand at creating original characters called COMPUTER MAN and NATURE LADY. Here's mine:

And here is Drew's far more literal translation...

Open your mind

Passaround comic #56. This one took all night to get around the table, but is one of our most coherent and linear (not saying that much). Coincidence?

Passaround comics #49-51

We broke 50! Woo!

This True Blood fan-comic features a duck pornographer, and me apparently being a pedant on Twitter.

The old fable about the tortoise and the hare:

Last week was our first D&D minus Vince (he chased his dreams to Vancouver) and everybody missed him a lot. To give credit where it's due, the order in this one was: Neil, Ryder, Drew, me, Ian.

The ending becomes more complex the more I look at it. Has Vince managed to contort himself into that position, and is wistfully masturbating to memories of Alberta? Or is that the wang of an off-panel stranger, and Vince is desperately wishing he were back in Calgary where this bukkake shit was never forced on him? No one knows. Except Ian Pond.

Passaround comics #46-48

From the last couple of weeks. Thanks to Drew and Chad for scanning these!

Everybody seems pretty happy with the location/prices/lighting/general ambiance of the Bear & Kilt on Stephen Ave, so we'll be having drink & draw there now.
